Hey there!
My name is Gita, and I’m the brains behind my blog, Warrior In The Kitchen.
Warrior In The Kitchen was started in 2015 simply to be an online compilation of the recipes that were passed down to me by my family, my husband’s family, as well as my own tried and true recipes. I wanted these recipes to be easily accessible to my kids as well as the rest of my family and friends.
Today, it’s a space dedicated to sharing all of my vegan and vegetarian recipes with anyone looking for healthy, delicious recipes and meal planning ideas. These recipes span generations and are inspired by cuisines from around the world!
I truly believe that magic happens in the kitchen with the creation of authentic comfort foods, the fusion of exciting world cuisines, and the concoctions of ingredients and spices!
I want to share my passion for cooking healthy yet delicious vegan and vegetarian meals with you and inspire you to dive into the exciting world of vegan and vegetarian cooking. Because after all, we’ve all wondered at some point, “What DO I make for dinner tonight!?”
About Warrior In the Kitchen
Simply put, I love to cook. BUT, I didn’t always love to cook. In fact, it was a struggle for me to focus in the kitchen when my mom was trying to explain the names of various Indian spices and when and how to use them. However, she continued to insist that I stand in the kitchen with her and be her ‘sous chef’ while she made meals.
Through the years, my love of cooking and recipe creation has grown from an anguished feeling of
“Oh Mom! Do I HAVE to help you cook?! Why can’t I just read!”
to the excitement of
“Let’s see what we can cook up next!”
It wasn’t until I started cooking for my own family that I became curious about the benefits of authentic Indian spices and how I could use them in creative ways. These days, my culinary journey has taken me beyond traditional Indian meals to creating healthy yet delicious meals inspired by cuisines from around the world!
I started becoming confident in my ability to create flavorful, savory meals, both Indian and non-Indian. I also realized that I was truly becoming a ‘Warrior in the Kitchen’, literally and figuratively. (My marital last name literally means ‘Warrior’ in Sanskrit.)
About My Recipes
All of my recipes are vegetarian (most are vegan) and are nutritious, healthy and chockful of flavors, inspired by cuisines from around the world! I hope to provide simple recipe instructions and inspire you to make healthy and delicious meals that will answer the age-old question of “What do I cook today!?”
My Warrior Spirit
I embrace my ‘Warrior’ spirit by applying the Japanese philosophy of ‘Kaizen’ and Pinch of Yum’s mantra of ‘1% ∞’ to all aspects of my life.
